I-91 south in Springfield will be closed at Exits 6 and 3 tonight starting at 7 p.m. due to paving work ahead of the opening of MGM Springfield in a few months.
Both exits are expected to reopen Thursday morning at 6 a.m.
Detours will be in place while paving crews work. Traffic will be detoured off the road at Exit 6 and will re-enter I-91 Southbound at the Interchange 3 on-ramp until 11 p.m.
Then, through 4 a.m. traffic will be diverted off of Exit 6 across the South End Bridge to the Agawam Rotary and back.
Finally, from 4 a.m. until about 6 a.m., drivers on I-91 South will be detoured off the road at Exit 6 and will re-enter the highway southbound at the interchange 3 on-ramp.
Drivers can expect delays and should reduce speed, and use caution.
The MGM casino in Springfield is set to open on August 24th.
